Geography of Belonging (2026).

This project is a migratory self-portrait. Through the lens of borders, movement, and belonging, I trace my trajectory as a migrant through the houses I have lived in and the institutions that enabled me to be present in each territory. Starting in Nova Lima, the map follows my path chronologically from Brasil, to California, to Italy, and finally to New York. Superimposed over the image of each house are real scans of the documents that provided me with justification to exist in each territory: from school IDs to visa applications and travel history forms. The goal is to juxtapose, and therefore queer, the idea of a “host country” or “host institution” with that of a house, a physical site of belonging. The work is a critique of the spectacle of the border and its bureaucracies, as well as the surveillance that has become inherent to border crossing.

Geografia do Pertencimento (2026).

Este projeto é um autorretrato migratório. Através das lentes das fronteiras, dos limites, do movimento e do pertencimento, traço minha trajetória como migrante por meio das casas em que vivi e das instituições que possibilitaram minha presença em cada território. Partindo de Nova Lima, o mapa acompanha cronologicamente meu percurso do Brasil à Califórnia, da Itália e, finalmente, a Nova York. Sobre a imagem de cada casa, estão sobrepostos scans reais dos documentos que me forneceram uma justificativa para existir em cada território, ou para estar ali: de carteirinhas escolares a solicitações de visto e formulários de histórico de viagens. O objetivo é justapor — e, portanto, subverter — a ideia de um “país anfitrião” ou de uma “instituição anfitriã” à de uma casa, um organismo real que acolhe. O trabalho é uma crítica ao espetáculo da fronteira e de suas burocracias, bem como à vigilância que se tornou inerente e intrinsecamente ligada à travessia de fronteiras.
